Summer Project Part 1
This web quest is designed to have students explore and research a famous scientist of their choosing from the list specified by student’s last name. Once they have collected all necessary details and information about their scientist, they will then fill out a resume of the scientist and relevant information using the format provided. The final step in your research will be walking through the scientific method of one of your scientists’ experiments.
The objective of this web quest is to get you to research famous scientists. There is a list of scientists that includes many names of scientists you may have never been introduced to before. After you select the scientist from the appropriate list based on your last name, you will research that scientist. You will find information about them and create a resume that includes all of the researched information. In the end, you should have learned more about the scientist you researched. Your final project will be turned in for grading and posted for others to see and read. Let's have some fun!
All submissions must be in the form of a resume. Do not submit presentation slide shows or other forms of products. Feel free to use the attached template for your resume but you may also use another template if you choose. Use more than one website or book to make sure you have found out as much about your scientist as possible. Do not cut and paste from the internet or other sources. You must also cite your sources so that I know where you obtained your information from. Do not use Wikipedia! Please make a note on the resume when there is information you did not find, don’t just leave it blank. Example: No middle name found
*If you are also taking Pre-AP ELA, you will use this information to help you create your biography journal entry. If you are not taking Pre-AP ELA, you will not be creating a biography journal entry.

Summer Project Part 2
Part 2 of the summer project for Pre-AP Science will be detailing how your scientist used the scientific method during their most famous accomplishment. You will need to state what he/she problem or question was, their hypothesis, how they gathered information about their experiment, the procedure they used to conduct their experiment, the materials they used, and the outcome or results of their experiment. Feel Free to use the following template to help you complete part 2.
Name of Scientist: _____________________________
Name of their Experiment: _________________________________
Question/Problem:
Hypothesis:
Research:
Procedure:
Material:
Results:
Name of Scientist: _____________________________
Name of their Experiment: _________________________________
Question/Problem:
- What was the goal or the purpose of this experiment?
- What was the scientific question they were trying to answer?
Hypothesis:
- Explain what your scientist thought would happen during their experiment.
- What was their prediction of the outcome of their experiment?
Research:
- How did your scientist gather the information that they needed to complete their experiment?
- Did they cite their sources?
Procedure:
- What steps did your scientist take to complete their experiment?
- This is a very detailed outline of the experiment.
- You should include the step by step process your scientist conducted to obtain the results they desired.
Material:
- What materials did your scientist have to have in order to conduct their experiment?
Results:
- What were the results for your scientists’ experiment?
- Did they observe the results they had originally predicted?
- Was their hypothesis correct?
- How did they share their results with others?
